Since it's October, I thought this would be a fitting game to review. Dead By Daylight is an online game where you essentially have to play through an 80's horror film. There are 2 roles you can play; The Survivor, and The Killer. As a Survivor, your goal is to escape the map by powering 5 generators to open an exit gate. As the killer, your goal is to stop the survivors from escaping by hitting and killing them so they can be sacrificed to The Entity, the host of the match. Each character has abilities called Perks that can be equipped, and each Killer has a unique power. You'd think that the game would be heavily Killer favored, since the Survivors can't fight back at all, but it's not as bad as you'd think. The Survivors get plenty of resources to escape the killers grasp. Pallets can be dropped on their heads to block their paths. Windows can be used to vault through very quickly, while killers take a considerable amount of time to jump through. Both roles are very fun to play, although there are a lot of flaws. Hitboxes can be very inconsistent, the ping is can be abysmal at times, and both roles have very annoying tactics that suck all the fun out of the game. Despite these flaws, I love this game so much. A lot of characters from classic horror films (Halloween, Nightmare on Elm Street, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, ETC) can be played in the game. Their powers fit in well with their character (Michael Myers is on point) and they are well designed abilities that are a lot of fun to play. Despite all the flaws, I think this game is fantastic. Is it for everyone? No, but I think a lot of people would love it. 8/10.

Dead Cells has the best combat of any game I played in 2018. The game that comes closest too it would be God of War. While swinging the Leviathan Axe is very fun, nothing comes close to the feeling of empowerment from killing a hard enemy in Dead Cells. Everything about this game is made to get you feeling the rush of killing a swarm of enemies, or a boss. The sound of swords clashing. The way an enemy explodes upon death, everything is designed to make you feel powerful. But really, you're not. This game is difficult. A lot of the time, death is caused by panicking. The game definitely knows how to take advantage of this. Some enemies will rapidly swarm you to put you under pressure. Others will explode after death. Tiny mistakes will be the ends of you. Despite this, if you can keep your cool during tough situations, you will be less likely to make mistakes, and kill enemies that give you a tough time. The combat isn't the only thing that is amazing about this game. The artistry put on display is incredible. There are a lot of well made assets that look stunning. The rogue-like map generation is incredible. You can really tell they put a lot of effort into it. The music is very good, but it's not amazing, although I feel like I have been spoiled by Hollow Knight's soundtrack. All of these elements add up to make an amazing experience that will keep you coming back long after you finished the game. 9/10.
