I'm just gonna come out and say it. Hollow Knight is one of the best games that I have played in the last few years. The combat is incredible, with enemies and bosses that are fun and well made. the artwork is gorgeous. At a few moments in the game, I could not believe how good this game looked. The soundtrack by Christopher Larkin is beyond godly, and I highly recommend going and listening to it. But what is the best aspect of this game is the exploration. You don't start out with much. Just your nail, but as you progress through the game, you get interesting abilities that allow you to explore this game even further. A dash, a wall jump, dreams, and a huge world to use these abilities. And let me stress, when I say huge, I mean HUGE. I played for 30 hours with no end in sight. Hollow Knight provides one of the best gaming experiences in a long time. 10/10

Inversus is a simple, and interesting experience. When you start playing, you can only move on the half of the arena that is the opposite of your character's color. When you shoot, your bullet leaves behind a trail that is the color you can walk on, which gives a simple, yet deep game. Do I shoot my opponent, or do I make a path to go for the powerup? It also has different maps, which may not seem like much at first, but these maps are quite unique. Whenever you're at the edge of the screen, if you move in the whichever way the screen is, you will appear on the oppisite side of the arena, which makes for interesting moments of gameplay. The enemy is on the oppisite side of the map, so you shoot at the screen, hitting them in the process. There is also an arcade mode. While it is definitely a good side option, it doesn't square up with the main game.
Overall, Inversus gives a solid, unique experience. 7/10. |
